PALM designed and implemented a new concept in message storage systems for this Telco-grade, distributed and massively scalable messaging system using the Windows platform.

We chose to architect the message store around MIME and MIME content descriptors.

The result was a system that automatically, and natively accommodates any media format and makes management of MIME messages automatic

We worked directly with Microsoft to solve some critical issues dealing with distributed Windows NT servers and file access. In addition our engineers worked directly with Network Appliance on the CIFS (Common Internet File System) protocol that was used to communicate with the NAS (Network Attached Storage).
